Lead Device Specialist

The person

We’re seeking an exceptional Lead Device Specialist with extensive experience in both cloud device networks such as SDWAN and more traditional networking devices. You are a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of device management, network architecture, and the ability to integrate innovative solutions into complex environments.

You have a strong background in cloud technologies, with hands-on experience working with SDWAN solutions, and a proven track record in managing, configuring, and optimizing traditional networking devices. Your technical expertise is matched by your leadership skills, enabling you to guide teams through the implementation and management of network devices while ensuring the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability.

As a natural problem-solver, you thrive on troubleshooting and finding solutions to complex network challenges, balancing the latest technology trends with proven, reliable devices. You have a collaborative approach, working effectively across teams to integrate cloud and traditional network devices seamlessly.

Not just a great skillset on paper, you need to really integrate into a small team, and be willing to go beyond the role scope, problem solving to make sure we release solutions on time.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of working in a start-up or agency setting, understanding the hard work needed and the level of success that can come with getting it right.

The role
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of both cloud-based networking devices (e.g., SDWAN) and traditional devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Lead a small team of device specialists, providing technical direction and mentorship while fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Work closely with vendors to assess and select the right devices and technologies that align with the company’s strategic objectives. Manage relationships and negotiations with device vendors.
  • Creation of test configuration files across a wide range of networking devices, covering key areas of potential vulnerability.
  • Experienced in running configuration audits and vulnerability scans on network devices
  • Ensure devices meet organizational security policies and regulatory requirements, performing regular security audits and updates.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of device configurations, architectures, and troubleshooting steps, and provide regular reports on device performance and network health.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in device technology, including SDWAN, and suggest improvements or changes to keep the infrastructure modern and competitive.
  • Work alongside other areas of the business, including IT to ensure seamless integration and management of network devices.
Skills / Experience
  • Proven experience in the management, configuration, and optimization of both cloud-based network devices (e.g., SDWAN) and traditional networking devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of network architecture principles and experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SDWAN technologies and solutions (e.g., Viptela, Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki).
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF) and technologies (VLANs, VPNs, MPLS, QoS).
  • Familiarity with integrating cloud-based devices and solutions into hybrid or multi-cloud network environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, SD-WAN certifications, or similar.
  • Experience working with cloud networking platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and integrating devices into these environments.
  • Willing to participate in design discussions.
  • Tracks down failure in software and proposes ideas to mitigate in future iterations.
  • Results orientated with a keen eye for detail.
  • Problem solver who is not just limited to solving device configuration issues.
  • Believes in the principle of continuous improvement.
  • Firm believer in the ‘whole team’ approach to quality and champions this belief.
  • Assists with device expertise throughout the full product lifecycle, from helping to define requirements, all the way through the development process, to customer release.
  • Assist with investigations to confirm the validity of defects.
  • Willingness to own decisions.
  • Desire to become an expert in Titania’s core software and further your skillset.
  • Willingness to participate in customer meetings if required.
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies for collaborative development.
  • Experience of working within either a start-up or agency environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Working knowledge of network compliance standards such as CMMC, PCI-DSS, NIST 800-171/53, STIGs
  • Experience with using Python
  • Git experience
